Wackenhut Services Inc. (WSI) was formed in 1960 in Florida as a subsidiary serving high security United States Government customers of The Wackenhut Corporation (TWC), a U.S. corporation based in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.  WSI was then, and is now tasked with providing a wide variety of security, consulting, fire protection and EMS, facilities management, and aviation support services to the U.S. Government and select commercial clients.  WSI offers specialized services, including paramilitary operations, that are detached from the sales and operations of our sister company.

In March, 2002 TWC merged with Group 4 Falck, a Danish-owned security conglomerate.  This merger brought WSI under the purview of the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual with respect to the Foreign Ownership, Control and Influence Program (FOCI). FOCI is the U.S. government’s program that ensures companies with foreign ownership, working in the United States, will not compromise the security or integrity of sensitive government agencies and materials.  Of the three ways to abate or satisfy the standards of the Foreign Ownership, Control and Influence Program, a PROXY Agreement operated company is the most absolute, secure, stringent, and toughest to meet. WSI has met those stringent requirements by establishing the company under a proxy agreement. To learn more about the FOCI, one can visit the website at the U.S. Department of Energy:

The Proxy Agreement was signed in May 2002 by TWC, WSI, Group 4 Falck (now known as G4S, based in England) and the U.S. Department of Energy.  This Proxy Agreement essentially created WSI as a separate entity that today operated independently from the parent company, G4S.  G4S is the largest security company in the world with over 600 thousand employees operating in over 100 countries.

This Proxy Agreement creates a “firewall” between the U.S. based and the U.K. bases parent company.  There is absolutely no foreign control or influence over any part of WSI.  Additionally, any contact including communication, no matter how casual, that WSI’s employees have with the parent company or other affiliates/subsidiaries must be fully reported and is reviewed by the United States Government.

All officers of WSI are U.S. born citizens, as are the members of WSI’s governing Board of Directors.  They live in the United States and are active members of their communities.

In August 2011 Wackenhut Services Incorporated was renamed G4S Government Solutions (G4S GS). The PROXY Agreement and “firewall” remain intact.

“In August of 2012 a new Proxy Agreement between DOE and G4S Government Solutions, Inc. and G4S, plc was renewed for a period of 5 years.”
